Accessibility access

SoberLock provides a pause before opening selected apps during a timed lock. With your affirmative in-app agreement and Android Accessibility access enabled, it receives window-change events and uses the opening app’s package name to decide whether to display a blocking screen. It does not read messages, passwords, typed text or screen contents. SoberLock cannot assess intoxication or driving fitness.

On-device information

The app reads launchable app names, package names and icons to present your app picker, and identifies Home apps and the current default phone app to keep essential functions available. It stores your selected packages, the current lock’s package snapshot and timing fields, and the version of the Accessibility disclosure you accepted in private local preferences. It uses device clock and boot-count information for expiry. Opening-app package names are handled transiently by the service, not saved as an activity history.

Collection and sharing

SoberLock does not transmit this information off your phone, share it with the developer or third parties, or sell data. It has no Internet permission, account, ads, analytics or tracking SDKs. Android itself controls its system permissions and services; this policy describes SoberLock’s own processing.

Storage and retention

App choices and the accepted disclosure version remain until app data is cleared or SoberLock is uninstalled. Active lock fields remain until an eligible Undo, a replacement session, data clearing or uninstall. Expiry stops blocking automatically; expired timing and package fields may remain locally until replaced or deleted. Temporary app-list display information lasts only in app memory.

Deleting local data

Use Android settings to clear SoberLock’s app storage, or uninstall SoberLock, to delete its local preferences. Cancelling during the 15-second Undo period clears the session while preserving app choices and agreement. There is no account or server-side record to delete.

Backup and transfer

SoberLock disables Android backup and explicitly excludes its storage from cloud backup and device transfer. App updates with a compatible signing identity keep existing local preferences. A new installation on another phone does not restore choices or locks through SoberLock.

Your control

You choose the protected apps and the deadline. The default phone app, Home, Settings and SoberLock remain available. You may disable Accessibility access or uninstall at any time. Disabling access suspends protection but preserves a valid lock until its original deadline. Restoring access can resume that lock if valid in-app agreement has already been recorded. Upgrading from v0.6 requires one new affirmative agreement; existing app choices and deadlines are kept. Declining leaves protection unavailable.

Policy changes

Future releases may update this policy to match their behavior. Any material change to Accessibility data use will require an updated disclosure and agreement before that changed use. The published policy must identify the developer, privacy contact and effective revision date. No functional public policy link is provided in this prerelease build because its address is not yet available.
